Hello!
The expectations of RPi as media player increase with the new proprietary and optimized chip-set and architecture. A decent media player can be realized with the current hardware and OS.
However, it will bring completeness to the application if the next hardware revision includes HDMI eARC/ARC.
A typical use case today is where a sound system is connected to RPi and the RPi to a TV or a projector. This works well if the RPi is playing/streaming the content.
However with the same connectivity, there is no way to listen to the content, from any other source, that is directly connected to the TV or a projector.
With HDMI eARC/ARC on both TV/Projector and the RPi, the RPi will become a perfect TV Box.
I really hope this will be considered for the next revision.
Thanks!
