Did the OP say that ? I can't see that he did...maybe I'm missing something....or are you concluding that from the images...?
You can tell from the image. Nothing is discoloured, the resistor is missing entirely and the solder still has the indentations from where the resistor used to be. If it had overheated or burnt out then it wouldn't look like that.
If you're right, I guess the next question is...how on earth did you manage to do that?
Most likely reason is that it was a bare board which got put down on something that wasn't flat and a sharp point or corner knocked off the resistor.
You're right, it was physically damaged, I brought the board straight home in my bag. :oops:
I'm in China. so ... I'd give it a try, and if it doesn't work get professional help to fix it. Because I like to DIY.
