I thought you'd already discounted that idea? You certainly were aware of it.This is such a clever idea !! Thank you so much. I will try it!Use the buck converter to provide power to an USB 3 port. There are only 4 signals there. Use just the + and - ones.
Plug an usb3 to USBC cable to that and to the Pi. Voila.
Edit the config.txt file to tell the Pi your supply can provide 5a.
(As I understand I can bypass the Power Delivery protocol handshake via a config on the Raspberry pi 5 : viewtopic.php?p=2153486&hilit=usb_max_c ... 1#p2153486).
