You can increase swap space to remedy ram chokes. It works.

Thrashing is not a result of running out of swap space. It's running out of "active" RAM pages.

OK i am no expert, but on my Pi-5, i was having system crashes when swap was just 100mb (which is the default for RPIOS). That usually happens when you are on Chromium, and open google maps and look around a little bit. Some web pages (like maps) fill the ram like crazy. I later increased my swap space from 100mb to 2GB. I am having no crashes whatsoever now. So it solved my problem. And i can see that almost half of that 2GB swap is actually getting filled (htop says hi). That is all i am saying.
