My first line was meant 'sarcastic' :roll: Sorry for not adding a smiley!

SSD is quiet, a spinning HDD is not. Main reason for me to go for SSD.
My Synology NAS'es with big HDDs are fine, but noisy. This one is quiet and small.

True, having the system boot from the same disk is not as safe as a separate boot device. But choosing for SD is for me a worse option.

Btw, I assume Synology is considered a quality NAS solution, and they have the system also on the same disk as the data. To be fair, any NAS with a single disk is a risk, hardware RAID 1 is what i would prefer and my Synology's have that. This NAS was for multimedia, streaming music and movies in the living room, so it had to be small and quiet. And a NAS should also be backed up!

Your tutorial. You put a lot of quality work in it, my compliments.
Looked at it when I planned my simple multimedia NAS, then looked at OpenmediaVault ..
