Update - so I have spent much of the week (I am retired) trying out options as 'scientifically' as possible. It feels to me that the link issues are on the radio side, the VNC connection seems adequate since I am using the same combination of WayVNC server and Real VNC viewer now with a workaround cabled connection. When I try a WiFi HotSpot on the RPi5, there is a rhythm to interuptions, every 6 or so seconds. I have tried 5GHz band, 2.4GHz band automatic frequency selection and manual selection, all with similar results.
So my present workaround is to use Ethernet cable connection between the Windows 11 laptop and the RPi5 running a full-upgrade of 64-bit Bookworm. My wife has not shown any acceptance of the percieved need to drill through the outside wall so that I can stay indoors in the relative warmth whilst the telescope, camera and RPi5 are out in the garden!
