i didnt have to program anyone. i just plugged the HDMI dongle into my rpi. then i connect the HDMI cord from dongle to the TV. now i get instant 1080p from the rpi to the TV. thank you so much!
Yes, it already comes with some pre-programmed EDID data that may work out of box. Mine however came with data of some 4K monitor so some computers may automatically switch to 4K resolution with that. But if it works 'as is' in your case, then it is fine too. Just remember removing the dongle when the monitor turns off or shows some invalid resolution error message when plugged into something capable of 4k output that will use this resolution automatically.
