I'm Using the original Raspberry Pi 5 case with fan.
Disconnected the fan but no joy or improvement of the sound on earphones.
Selected in device profile as suggested SBC or SBC-XQ but no improvement.

Keep you posted about the results.

Is there a lot of Wireless interference around?

BT uses 2.5Ghz. Which is the same as Wifi...and Baby monitors. BT is a fairly weak signal, so can suffer if there is a lot of other wireless noise around.

How close are you to the PI...Does it improve if you get closer?

I am assuming that you are using Pi OS; bookworm? Is it up to date? There have been quite a few BT updates since it first came out.
