Thanks for the suggestion. I happened to have exactly a 100uF electrolytic and a 0.1uF cermaic in my junk box so I tried using them to regulate the power. I first tried spanning them in parallel between 5V and gnd, which didn't help the symptoms. Then I tried spanning them between 3.3V and gnd, which also didn't help. Then I tried putting them in parallel in-between the pin and the button. Also didn't fix it. Not sure exactly what is going on here. I am 99% sure that there is no accidental shorts or anything like that, so I have no idea what is causing these inputs.
