|I use a SmartiPi case as well. I am currently powering it all with a 52pi PD Power Extension Board for Raspberry Pi 5 from thepihut as I want to run from a 12v battery. I used the large back. The power board connects to the pi via a very short usb-c plug to plug cable so I didn't use the SmartiPi y cable but ran the display from the gpio power with the display's jumper cables. The SmartiPi FFC display cable is easy to fit and works. That all worked 1st time and has not put a foot wrong. Unlike some cases the display is the right way up and the ports are easily available, though the sd card is not. Nice robust result.
I also ran it with the official 27w psu straight into the pi (52pi board disconnected) and that seemed perfectly happy with the display too, though I have not used it like that for very long.
If you have "nonstandard" power requirements the 52pi power board is worth a look.
