HATs and other add-ons • Re: M.2+ Hat nvme not being recognized.

Thanks much for this thread.
My Experience with a WD SN740, 256GB.
1. Installed image of Debian Bookworm 64, from Raspberry Pi site.
2. Would not boot, several errors.
3. Once it booted to incomplete desktop.
4. Put it in an nvme/usb device and it booted and ran. Installed and ran hdparm and got about 350 MB. Seemed stable.
4A. Put another nvme stick, that I had been using via USB (full size, used a gum band to hold in place). Booted and worked with same config.txt and cmdline.txt from USB attach. Didn't run it real long but seemed stable. Indicated to me that the hat was OK.
5. Came here and searched, found this thread.
6. added the "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=2500". No change, no boot.
7.added the "dtparam=pciex1_gen=3" and it booted. hdparm is now 880
Will not trust this nvme stick, it will not run without the "dtparam=pciex1_gen=3", tried "dtparam=pciex1_gen=2" and it will not boot.
Oddly enough it did boot from the nvme a few times with the SD card installed, but wasn't stable.
