I repeated the same "long" procedure on an RPi4B - 8 GB with the Dec. 5 version of Bookworm OS, and it worked the same way!
The name of the PiCamera V2 is of course changed due to the different hardware in play, and I had to trim the pipeline down some to accommodate for the lesser computing performance of the RPi4B vs the RPi5:
