Use a fresh Raspberry Pi Bookworm OS on uSD.
Don'tt think that's a power issue as the M.2 HAT+ can supply 3A on 3.3V (see https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopi ... 1#p2228758) . But that's only valid for the 27W PSU --> which PSU do you use?
Connect the serial interface and provide the output from the boot loader (see last comment here https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/6195 - https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/debug-probe/ comes handy here!).
Then file an issue on Github. Looks like there are lots of incompatible WD drives atm: SN550/SN530 (I have two drives on order (2245 and 2280 size; both are 256GB -> will be able to check next week once they show up) and your SN770.
