Are you sure this doesn't work with an existing driver? I downloaded the zip file from EDUP and the file is called rtl8723b_linux.zip
There appears to be existing drivers for rtw88_8723d and rtw88_8723du. I will have a look at the contents of the zip file.
[edit] Looking at that zip file, I am confused which chip set is the target. Can you try plugging the wifi dongle in to the USB port on the Raspberry Pi and running the command lsusb. This will hopefully show the name of the chip set.
