Troubleshooting • Re: Error when trying to sudo apt update

I was trying to install pgAdmin on my pi 5 and was following the instructions until I got to

Code:

sudo apt update
The error code I get is

Code:

E: Conflicting values set for option Signed-By regarding source http://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt/ bookworm-pgdg: /usr/share/keyrings/pgdg.gpg != /usr/share/postgresql-common/pgdg/apt.postgresql.org.gpgE: The list of sources could not be read.
Any help you can provide is much appreciated. I am still very new to Linux.
Thank you.

Had you previously - prior to starting work on installing pgAdmin - successfully used sudo apt update as a part of keeping RasPiOS updated?

(Assuming you are actually running RasPiOS on your RPi[5] board?)

Ref: Manage software packages with APT - https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... s-with-apt

What you are attempting is a standard documented operation.

If it has never worked then you have a basic underlying problem with your installation of RasPiOS.

If it started failing after attempting to install pgAdmin then I would suspect a problem created by the instructions you are following. Maybe the documentation is not appropriate for RasPiOS?

I suggest providing a link to the guidance you have been following.
