And what's with the rush of SPI EEPROM boot failures I've seen asked abouit on here in recent weeks?

Count me in as one of these.
This is what I got:
LED Warning Flash Codes 4 long, 5 short = Fatal Firmware Error

Ran fine for an hour. shut it off orderly.. Next day.... the Boot failure.... Tried a brand new 32GB SanDisk Ultra today... Same results. Verified HDMI cables are good, keyboard/mouse is good, RPi5 powersupply is good (all of this works with the 4Bs flawlessly).

I'm going through several threads and will probably document my steps to rectify the problem in an appropriate thread.. However, I'll put a link to that thread here if anyone is interested in seeing my results... I'll update it within the hour...
