Thanks from another user: just saved me here, too. Trying to figure out a hellish audio problem -- no joy so far, but I've only been at it full time for three days -- I managed to lose sound entirely. NBD, I can just boot from flopp -- er, SD. Thought I had. Then, to be sure, I decided to change the desktop color, shut down, pull the SD, reboot. Ah, but the new desktop color was here, so I'd never booted from the SD at all.
Fortunately found this thread and the answer. Saved!
