Exactly, what else are these resources going to be used for? If you are using it as a desktop machine part of that experience IMO is something that looks nice and pleases you, I want a cartoon widget on my desktop, the next few days weather displayed, a radio player in my system tray, fancy effects when I open and close windows, fancy system graphs in my system tray, wallpaper automatically changed for me every so often, for me that's a brilliant use of resources. Even with all that on Cinnamon Ive never ran out of memory on my 4Gb Pi4 and the cpu is on idle.![:lol:]( "Laughing")
all that just to use a browser, everything else is just resource eating decoration.
i get it though, i make changes as well.In addition, it looks absolutely beautiful. So what if it eats up a couple more megabytes of ram. It doesn't really slow the system down. If i had felt any lag i wouldn't be praising. Trust me, i have been using the official desktop for 3 years or so.KDE Plasma comes with a lot of settings that you do not have in the default desktop of RPIOS. It is way easier to set things up. And it really runs smooth and fast.
The official desktop, nothing wrong with it, it works as intended, maybe it is frugal with resources, great for an older Pi, but it's very plain.
