I don't know if this will be of any use to you but, the arrangement I have is that Apple Notes on my iPhone is connected to an IMAP account (just a standard email account) and the individual notes get saved as emails.
It all happens automatically and I didn't realise what I'd done when I first set it up. You just need to enable Notes for the account under Settings -> Mail -> Accounts -> <your chosen account>.
