Don't know and yes but only if you're willing to jump through some hoops.I have heard a lot about Ubuntu, but is it worth getting it on my RPI, and can I keep existing projects and files?
As already mentioned, the usual install method will wipe everything on the SD card (or other boot media). You'd need to backup your projects first, restore them afterwards and then install any dependencies in the new OS.
