In Continuous mode, it should be possible to switch back to manual mode; or use the AfPause control. If you combine this with the tuning file change to inhibit CDAF, it might do what you need.
Alternatively, in Auto triggered mode, it should be possible to cancel the scan with value AfTriggerCancel. Because frames and requests are queued, any control will have a couple of frames latency.
PDAF pixels are only in the Green channel. However, in sensor-land, "Green" has a relatively wide spectral response which approximates "Y".
(The ISP-based CDAF focus statistics are also Green only for Raspberry Pi 0-4, and a weighted mixture of G and R pixels on Pi 5, I think)
