Probably we need to understand what the "powerful enough" servo will do. Is it lifting 10kg or moving a feather ?
That will help decide which servo, what power requirements and if driver boards are needed.
Only one socket is available - yes and we can plug two power supplies into that.
I would get a Pi4 (2GB RAM) to start with.
