I tried dmesg for the first time ever, so a large amount of text was displayed. I’m not sure how to check top for high processor load. However your message prompted me to make a fresh installation of Bookworm to try MousePad immediately. Sure enough it opens ‘instantly’ and repeatedly. I was notified of some OS updates which I accepted and installed. After rebooting, MousePad continued to open instantly.
I then switched to X11 (in sudo raspi-config) and rebooted. Opening a text file I had saved to the Desktop now took 25 seconds, although closing and opening again was instant. A second text file was slow to open on the first attempt but afterwards was quick. After a reboot opening was again 25 seconds for the first attempt at opening either file.
What should I be looking for and where in dmesg?
