Maybe what I'm after doesn't make sense (scaling down full image eg. 4000 to 300) vs. cropping to 300.
Doesn't make sense as in it would be slower to do the scaling vs. using a crop.
So far crop has been working but it is misleading as far as me thinking what I'm seeing is the full image.

I'm taking the image and directly feeding it into a SPI display so trying to keep it fast
