Troubleshooting • Troubleshooting a Pi4B with no ethernet after upgrading to Bookworm

I had a working Pi4B on Raspbian Bullseye. I recently upgraded to Bookworm, and after restarting I have no internet. If I do "ip a" I have an eth0 adapter showing state "DOWN" even though it has link lights and the switchport shows as up. Additionally, I have no wifi adapter showing up. I don't see nmcli (I thought networkmanager was the default in Bookworm?) but setting a static IP in dhcpcd.conf didn't change anything.

I'd really like to avoid starting over if it can be avoided. I'm consoled into the pi, and when I do "dmesg | grep eth0" or "dmesg | grep end0" I don't see any errors; it registers the ethernet adapter (end0, which I think is the result of trying to change it to predictable names, then eth0 after disabling that) but will not see it as up.

If I do "ls -as1l /dev" I don't get eth0, end0, or wlan anything. I would appreciate any advice; I'm stumped and really don't want to deal with migrating this (it's a dev environment i was hoping to move to a vm after being done with testing, but I'm not ready for that yet as I have separate hypervisor maintenance going on).
