I can't help with the display.
That's exactly what a virtual environment is. A directory with your scripts in it AND the packages that go with those scripts.I also don't want to use a virtual environment if I can help it. I just want a normal directory full of normal files that will reliably be there so I can run them on boot-up if I get that far.
