Just enough time for the diesel generator to kick in, under 1 minute usually. I need to safely shutdown the pi.In theory yes it should work. How long do you need to power the Pi 5 for?
I don’t want a heavy computer UPS, until they come up with something light and compact, running on lithium batteries. I have used sealed lead acid battery based ones a lot. They needed battery replacement every 1-2 years. Most of them in our market need some minimum load otherwise it’ll turn off within a minute to conserve power.Get a real computer UPS made for normal computers. Like this

Does not need to be that one. But a computer UPS will work just fine and will work out of the box with tech that has been proved to work for decades now.
Basically I need something compact which doesn’t take much space and could be carried easily.
I don’t haven’t a router, internet is through Wi-Fi.
Plug your Pi and you router to it. It'll charge and provide power at the same time, something that almost all other UPS solutions for "made for Pi" out there lack (the can either power your pi, or recharge, but not both at the same time).
The ups I was using for my pi4 (link given in the first post) could power the pi and charge at same time, but it doesn’t have enough juice to run pi5.
