update: I managed to get it to work by using connection.autoconnect priority.
Two issues I 've stumbled upon in the process is trying to understand why this doesn't work on a different sd card that has a 64-bit full with desktop environment. I added the network for connecting to my mobile hotspot as I did for the other sd card, 64-bit lite, with the same commands mentioned above.
I've been struggling trying to obtain an ip when connected with the 64-bit lite to the mobile hotspot. Running ifconfig or ip addr doesn't provide results in line with the usual type of ip address. The way I ended up SSHing was with the hostname. I'm trying to sort this out because I'm running a little flask server to for a robot controlling web app.
